April 4, 2012: Thunder @ Heat

Thunder @ Heat
When: 8:00
Where: American Airlines Center (live), ESPN 2 (tv)
Who: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook vs LeBron James, Chris Bosh
Why: This is a possible NBA Finals preview featuring 3 legitimate MVP candidates in an absolute epic game! The sheer magnitude of this match up cannot be understated and it not only will affect the MVP award race, but how each team will react in the days following this game.

3 Burning Questions

Thunder
1. If Durant dominates tonight, will it net him the MVP Award?
2. How many PTS will Westbrook drop sans Dwayne Wade?
3. By nights end, will OKC be THE best team in the NBA hands down?

Heat
1. Can LeBron contain Durant?
2. Will the absence of Wade finally catch up to Miami?
3. Will a lose tonight be a precursor to how the Heat will fair in the playoffs?

Prediction: As a die hard New York Knicks fan for over 15 years, I absolutely despise the Miami Heat! However I cannot deny the fact that the Heat show up in big games (trust me, I should know) and this is as big as it gets. The key for Miami is to score early and often because they will not have Wade to bail out James if he has an off night. As for OKC, they are the model of consistency and they will not deviate from that formula tonight. I expect Durant to have a monster game and for Westbrook to take advantage of the void left by D-Wade and trun out a big game as well.

Result: Thunder win 115-102

  1. This game had the feel of a playoff game and Lebron would agree! I am a huge Lebron James fan, I know I'm going to get a lot of heat for that(pun intended) but I think too many people are against a man who's just trying to win a ring. Anyway back to the game, I think Bosh needs to step up his game and be a consistent shooter, lately he's been having poor games! I hope we get to see these two teams play 7 in the finals, what a finals it would be!
